February 15th -
Angus is still working at getting up to speed in the Legend car. The weekend's race was at AMS. Angus was driving better and understanding the spacial awareness of the racecar but unavoidable contact left him sidelined for the second half of the feature. Midway through the race, a car spun coming out of corner 4, and Angus had no where to go except for direct contact with the car. Video posted below -

February 7th -
Racing in Cordele, GA at Watermelon Capital Speedway is always fun for Angus. He ran as high as 2nd during the day, but left with a 6th place finish in the feature. Angus is thoroughly enjoying driving the Legend car, but is having to change many things about his driving style. The last couple of years driving the F2000 formula cars have been a good learning experience for Angus, but he is now forced to change some ingrained techniques. Every race is getting Angus closer to where he expects to be, which is at the front battling for wins.
On a side note, Angus has decided to switch back to a 2 digit number. He will now be racing the #11 car, using his former motocross number he used with KTM.

January 30th -
Although the results didn't show it, Angus had a very good day at Atlanta Motor Speedway yesterday. A draw set the starting order and Angus drew to start in the last position. During the feature race, he ran as high as 5th, but got loose with two laps to go, lost 2 spots, finishing 7th. Angus' new Advanced Technology Motorsports tuned car handled great allowing Angus to be able to drive much deeper and more aggressive. "Before today, I didn't believe my friend Sean Rayhall who told me that a Legend car is the most fun racecar he's  ever driven. But now, with my ATM setup, I know what he means!" Angus looks forward to next week's racing at Watermelon Capital Speedway!

January 27th -
Angus is thrilled to be teaming up with Doug Stevens and Advanced Technology Motorsports. The ATM cars are the best on the grid, and Angus is excited to have the opportunity to drive one. Angus will drive his ATM prepared racecar for the first time tomorrow at Atlanta Motor Speedway!

December 12th -
Angus had a character building day at Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend. After practice, Angus requested a setup change because of wheelspin exiting the corners. After starting on the pole position for the heat race, engine troubles and a missed gear forced Angus to immediately lose 8 spots in the first turn. From there, things did not improve much for the heat race. For the feature, Angus knew his engine was not at peak performance. He requested more rear grip in the exits of the turn to try and help him the most moving up through traffic. Angus started in the 17th position, but only managed to bring home a 12 place finish.

December 5th -
Angus had a successful 2nd time out in his new Legend racecar. The race was at Watermelon Capital Speedway, and the goals were to get up to speed by the feature and stay out of trouble as Angus is still in the learning stage in this new series. Watermelon Capital is a banked, high speed tri-oval with speeds reaching over 120 mph. Both of Angus' goals were accomplished. By the heat race, he was running comparable lap times to the leaders and finished 4th just seconds behind the leader, with 1st - 4th finishing nose to tail. Angus continued running solid laps in the feature, finishing 4th just behind the 3rd place car. In the feature, however, Angus made a few mistakes hindering his ability to make a move for the last podium position. "In road course racing, there aren't many corners where I'm turning in at over 100mph as there is usually much harder braking" Angus later discussed. "When I'd miss my turn in point by even just a tenth of a second, I'd already traveled so far that I would miss the apex by a lot. By the end of the day, I'd figured it out, and it was a lot of fun! Next time, I will be real competitive". Angus looks forward to next Saturday, back at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Angus will continue adjusting to oval racing in the Legend car throughout the Winter Series.

November 13th -
Angus finally had his first Legends race at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Friday night. This was the first time at AMS in his car. Actually it was the first time ever on a race track in the car! A fast time around the track is from 16.0 to 16.9. On Angus' 6th lap ever on the track, he put down a 16.3 lap time. Right away, Angus was fast. But mechanical difficulties kept Angus for getting any faster. In the first heat race, Angus' car developed an oil leak spraying oil down the right side tires causing the car to develop a bad push. The problem could not be fixed at the track to Angus was not able to take part in the feature race. Angus' next race will be at Watermelon Capital Speedway in a few weeks.

November 10th -
Angus returned from California and from the Skip Barber Karting Shootout with a whole new outlook on racing. There were 22 participants from all over the world, and the week impacted them all. Angus did not earn a spot on the Mazda Driver Development team, but learn invaluable insights into the professional world of racing. Angus has had his foot in both open and closed wheel racing for some time, and knew the day would come when he would have to decide which career path to take. After Townsend Bell's seminar, it was clear to Angus to focus his attention to the NASCAR ladder system. Angus is working on a multi-year business plan to get him into the seat of a late-model race car by 2013.

October 5th -
Thanks to Clanton Racing for fitting Angus in his Legend Car. Angus have his first Legend race at Atlanta Motor Speedway just days after he returns from Laguna Seca. He is very excited about this next step in his driving development!

September 21st -
After much consideration, Angus has decided to not race karts for at least a while. He feels it is time to fully concentrate on racing cars. Angus will be testing in his Legend Car at Atlanta Motor Speedway and Lanier National Speedway for the next couple of months before heading back out to California to compete at Laguna Seca.

September 1st -
Last week, Angus was able to attend an advanced racing school at Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway, in Monterey, California. This was in preparation for the Skip Barber Karting Shootout to be held in November. The Shootout is a competition held at Leguna Seca where the top up and coming racecar drivers are invited to compete for a spot on the Mazda Driver Development Team. The winner will join the Mazda team and be awarded a full season ride in the Skip Barber Formula Car National Series. Angus is very excited to be included in the competition. Until November, Angus will be mainly testing in his Legend Car on ovals.

August 15th -
Racing at Ocala Gran Prix is always really good. OGP has an awesome facility and knows how to host races so talented racers are always in attendence. Very good Rotax Junior racers were present in a big field for just a local club race. Angus qualified second but got drafted by twice in the heat race to finish in 4th. In the final, the driver starting in front of Angus got a bad jump on the start and the inside lane freight trained Angus' outside lane. With such good competition present, Angus could only come across the finish in a respectable 6th place finish. Thanks to OGP for a great race, and welcome to Alex Speed, the newest member of the OGP team! Of course, Alex brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to an already stacked group.

July 12th -
Another race day at Carolina Motorsports Park and another win for Angus. Angus is undefeated at CMP this year. While qualifying and the feature were in dry or drying conditions, the heat race was wet. Angus posted the fastest times in every practice session, but missed the pole by .01 seconds due to a set up change before qualifying and missing the weather conditions and carburation. Angus posted a 42.7 lap time after posting 42.6's in practice. Before the heat race, the rain fell hard and a full wet setup was changed on the kart except for the gearing. Because of that, Angus was only able to follow the pole sitter for the heat and finish in second. Drying conditions made the feature a guessing game for the setup. Since Angus was not happy with the decision made for the setup in the heat race, he wanted to choose the setup for the feature. Angus chose a dry setup gearing, slicks, with a lot of front grip. He chose correctly, made the pass for the lead, and won the
feature.

June 28th -
On June 25th, Angus was finally back behind the wheel and back at Carolina Motorsports Park. Angus was jumping to get back in the driver's seat, and his focus was intense. He ran lap times of 49.3's on Friday's practice, and then ran 49.0's in Saturday morning's practice on the full, counter-clockwise configuration. Angus' only hicup of the weekend was during qualifying, where he lost out on the pole by 2 hundreths of a second after putting in a 49.4 lap time. The slower qualifying time was due to putting on better tires which caused an understeer in the kart. The setup was adjusted for the heat race, and Angus quickly saw himself back in the lead, winning the heat. Angus then won the feature. CMP always puts on a great race, with awesome people and an awesome facility. Angus plans on being back there in 2 weeks.

May 28th -
Angus' dad was struck by a car during a bicycle training ride. Angus will be taking about a month break while the family helps with the recovery. Angus has been awesome helping the family out and caring for his dad.

May 18th -
Angus was able to test for 2 days at Road Atlanta in the Skip Barber Formula Cars. The Skip Barber instructors continued to be excellent, helping Angus in every area of the track. Road Atlanta is a challenging track with many elevation changes and blind corners. Angus was able to lower his lap times by hitting his marks better and improving his spacial awareness in the race car. Angus looks forward to August when he will be able to drive the formula cars again.

May 9th -
On May 7th, Angus competed in the Powerade Carolina Kart Championship Series at Carolina Motorsports Park. The configuration was a new one for Angus. It was fast and flowing, perfectly suited for him. It was a 'hold-on and drive in as deep as you can' type of course, and Angus loves driving on those style circuits! For practice, Angus was able to give very accurate information for what he needed to go fast. By the end of the first session, Angus was almost a complete second faster than everyone, and multiple seconds faster than most. Angus continued being the fastest driver on the track and posted a 42.13 qualifying lap, faster than any other kart in any class that day. This was also a new track record for the configuration. For the heat race, Angus put down perfect laps, drove away from the field and won the race by a large margin. But before the start of the Final, Angus realized that he was disqualified because of using a radio communication device earlier in the day. Angus had received permission to used the radio, but because of complaints from other competitors, Angus was sent to the rear of the field for the Final. Angus was actually excited about the DQ because he would now be forced to work much harder for a victory. At the start of the Final, Angus quickly gained 2 positions and continued to make passes in almost every corner for the first lap. Angus came across the start / finish line for the first lap right on the bumper of the leader, and immediately drafted by to take the lead. Angus then led the second lap, checked out on the field and won the race with another large margin on the rest of the racers. Then in post race tech, Angus was DQ'd for the second time that day. This time for using the new style Mojo tires. Since there are still some of the old style Mojo tires left to sell, it was ruled by the track that no racer can use the new style until all the old style ones are sold. Angus was just using old tires from the Florida Winter Tour, which happened to be the new style. No one at 711 Motorsports agreed with this ruling, but no one argued with it. Angus was the fastest racer at Carolina Motorsports Park. He continued to learn tons, and his ability to give clear and accurate feedback on chassis handling and motor performance improves each time he goes to the track!

April 20th -
On April 16th, Angus was back at Carolina Motorsports Park for a Rotax Challenge
race. Last October, Angus raced at CMP in this configuration and posted a second fastest time of 49.2. The fastest time posted by the pole sitter was 49.0. Angus was excited to see how much he had improved over the winter. In the first practice session, Angus posted an incredibly fast lap of 48.3, almost an entire second quicker than his previous best lap time. Angus gave the credit to all the help and coaching from Ocala Gran Prix during the Florida Winter Tour. He repeated over and over how much he learned over those three months from the experts at OGP, and how much of a better driver he is now compared to last October. It is a huge blessing for Angus to be a part of the Ocala Gran Prix race team. As for the race, the day turned wet but Angus remained untouchable sitting on pole, winning the Pre-Final and Final.
More good news for Angus came in a phone call informing us that Angus will be included in the 2011 Skip Barber Karting Shootout! This competition will be held at Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway in CA. The grand prize will be a fully-funded ride for the 2012 Skip Barber National Series in formula cars. The winner will also be awarded a spot on the Mazda Driver Development team. All of us at 711 Motorsports wish Angus the best as he prepares for this competition.

April 5th -
Racing was at Ocala Gran Prix for the Florida Kart Championship Series. Angus entered the TAG Jr class using
Bridgestone tires. First time out in the tires was for qualifying. We were unsure of the setup using the new tires, but with the expert tuning from OGP, Angus came out of the qualifying session in the 3rd position. During the Pre-Final, Angus made a good start moving to second position, and finished behind teammate Oliver Askew. In the final, the start wasn't as clean, and Angus made contact with another driver in the first corner. When Angus re-entered the track after contact, he was running next to last in the 20 kart field. Damage to Angus' kart kept him from running his fastest laps, but he still managed to pass his way up to a 6th position finish. Next racing will be at Carolina Motorsports Park in 2 weeks.

March 31st -
Angus completed the last 2 rounds of the Florida Winter Tour. Numerous crashes, a totalled kart, and a hurt hand ruined qualifying and racing for Saturday's event. But things went better for Angus on Sunday. A good qualifying effort put Angus straight into the main. In the Final, Angus started in the 15th position. An early crash dropped him running 29th. Fortunately, Angus never quits and chased, running his fastest and most consistent laps of the weekend. By the final lap, Angus had made up 10 positions and finished 19th. The Florida Winter Tour has been a perfect place for Angus to begin his Rotax Junior racing. We had specific development goals and Angus surpassed them all. Ocala Gran Prix provided everything needed to be competitive, and Angus looks forward to running up front next year. Angus will spend much of the rest of the year testing in his Legends car and in the Skip Barber Formula cars, as well as racing in his karts.

March 15th -
Angus raced back at his home track, Ocala Gran Prix in the Rotax Max regional qualifier. Since Angus, due to other racing, will not be attending the Rotax Grand Nationals, we used this race as more testing for the next upcoming Florida Winter Tour round. We were able to try some dramatic set up changes with success. Unfortunately, a broken chain ended Angus racing on the first lap of the final, but we still were able to come home with valuable data to use next week.

March 2nd -
Rounds 3 and 4 of the Rotax Florida Winter Tour took place last weekend at Palm Beach International Raceway. Angus arrived in West Palm Beach at 1:30am Thurday morning. Not exactly how we had planned it. The track
turned out to be a fast, wide open track with some very technical tight sections. Ocala Gran Prix provided excellent data and tuning all weekend as expected. Unfortunately, Angus needed one more day of testing before qualifying began. Due to his lack of track knowledge, Angus was forced to race his way into the event through the Last Chance Qualifiers for both days. A crash in Saturday's LCQ left Angus in the stands for the main event. In Sunday's morning practice, Angus finally had the track dialed in and placed himself 3rd on the time sheets in his practice group. Next was Angus' qualifier race to try and get him into the main event. Angus had to start the race in P13, but quickly passed his way up to 4th. With 5 laps to go, Angus was all the way up running in the 2nd position. Instead of making the pass for the lead, Angus pushed the P1 kart for 4 and a half laps building a gap between himself and the P3 kart. In the last lap, Angus made the pass for the lead and won the qualifier. Unfortunately, Angus still had to start the main event in 27th position. Starting that far back is rarely good, and proved to not be so good this day as well. A turn 1 incident had Angus off track with a kart on top of him. After getting back on track, Angus pressed and chased his way back up to the 26th position. Angus actually ran his fastest lap of the weekend on the last lap of the final making 2 passes. Next round is at Ocala Gran Prix where Angus is experienced on the track and has much higher expectations regarding his performance. A huge thanks for Jorge and all the guys at OGP for having Angus on your team! It is by far the best team in karting.

February 16th -
Angus attended the Skip Barber 2 Day Advanced Racing School at the historic Sebring International Raceway. 'My new favorite track!' was what Angus had to say after his first stint on track. Angus had a great time, and drove very well. The Skip Barber instructors were exceptional, of course, and taught Angus more about car control. The highlight for Angus was the open lapping sessions where overtaking was allowed. Angus' helmet cam video can be seen here -

January 26th -
Last weekend was the first Rotax weekend of the Florida Winter Tour. This is the biggest karting series in the US. An international line-up consisted of racers from as far as China and Japan. In Angus' Junior class, there were 68 racers. 35 of them make the main event, and since this is Angus' rookie year in the series, making the main each weekend is our goal. This first round was at the Orlando Karting Center. Friday's qualifying was difficult for us due to the changing weather. Traffic and very wet conditions forced us to race in the Last Chance Qualifier for both days. For Saturday's qualifier, Angus raced from his starting position of 30th all the way up to
8th spot. Unfortunately, only the top 6 made it into the main. For Sunday's qualifier, Angus finished 4th which placed him on the grid starting 33rd for the finals. In the Pre-final, Angus finished an impressive 23rd position. In the Final, Angus moved all the way up to 16th before being caught up in an incident from the rear and forcing an early retirement. Angus suffered a rear end impact injuring his back making it impossible for him to continue racing. Angus hopes to be healed in time for February racing.
A huge thanks goes out to the entire Ocala Gran Prix staff and team. Thanks for letting Angus be a part of the best team in karting! Angus was fast all weekend because of their expert knowledge. A special thanks also goes out to Mike Maurini of Race Tech Development and IndyCar driver Dan Wheldon for their driver and set-up coaching.

January 17th -
Angus raced at Ocala Gran Prix in the North Florida RMax Challenge and made the podium with a 3rd place victory.

January 10th -
After a racing break, Angus spent some of last week testing at Ocala Gran Prix and Orlando Kart Center. Angus will be racing at both track in the upcoming Florida Winter Tour.

"The Formula Kart Racing Florida Winter Tour is one of the longest running and largest sprint kart racing series in the world. The 2009 FWT averaged 578 entries per month and featured drivers from 28 different countries, 28 U.S. States and 5 Canadian Provinces, with total value of cash purses and awards exceeding $148,000."

For 2011, the racer count and awards are even higher! Angus is very excited about this upcoming international race series. The schedule is Orlando in January, West Palm Beach in February, and in Ocala in March. In between rounds of the Florida Winter Tour, Angus will also be competing in the Ocala Gran Prix Rmax Series starting this coming weekend. Below is a video of Angus learning the Orlando Kart Center track.

December 8th -
Last weekend, Angus travelled back down to his home track at Ocala Gran Prix for the last round of the OGP Fall Series. The configuration was set to be the same one for the upcoming Florida Winter Tour. We decided that instead of results for this race, we would concentrate on set up possibilities for the FWT. The racers in attendance made the race like a national with the top Rotax Junior drivers in the country on track. We started a little off the pace, but our changes throughout the weekend had Angus improving his lap times every session. Angus ran his fastest laps of the day in the Final. Unfortunately, a mid-race off track incident placed Angus finishing 9th. The results don't show it, but the weekend was a huge success for Angus as a really good starting point for a chassis set-up was found. Angus will now be preparing for the Florida Winter Tour.
This week, Angus also received a Legends Racecar. He will be testing in the car and preparing to once again race ovals.

November 6th -
Angus had the amazing experience of attending the Skip Barber Formula Car Racing School last week. He was the second youngest driver ever to be admitted. Angus learned so much from the awesome instructors. The lead instructor, Keith Watts, played a huge role in Angus' success in completing the course. His knowledge and ability to relate that knowledge to Angus was outstanding. The biggest obstacle for Angus making the move to full size open wheel race cars was learning to operate the 5 speed sequential gearbox. Angus loved the challenge, and took to shifting quickly. Angus is anxiously waiting until February when he will get back in the seat of a formula race car in Sebring, Florida for the advanced school.

October 19th -
Last weekend, Angus raced at a temporary street course event in conjunction with the BoShear's Air Show. It was a fun race with a temporary course set up on one of the runways of the airport. Angus was thrilled when it was decided that his class of Rotax Junior would be combined with the adults racing Rotax Senior and Master. In the final, Angus technically won the Junior class, but was 3rd overall coming in behind the senior winner and master winner. Angus started the weekend running 25.5 second lap times, and continued to improve until running his fastest lap times of 23.7's in the final. The course proved to be very challenging in regards to tuning and set up, and we learned alot from the senior and master class winners. Thanks to all who put on this great event!
This week, Angus will go to Road Atlanta to get his seat made for the Skip Barber Formula race car. We are very excited about entering this next level of formula cars in Angus' racing career!

October 12th -
We travelled to Ocala Gran Prix for their fall series race. A really strong field was ready to race. Angus posted fast lap times all day on Friday, and continued to be fast on Saturday. Some tuning help from Nate and Kyle at OGP proved to take us in the right direction. Angus qualified 3rd, missing 2nd by only 1 tenth of a second. AJ Myers won the pole, with Ethan Low beating us out starting on the front row. Angus finished the heat race in third, which put him starting the Final inside row 2. Unfortunately, Angus got pushed off at the start of the final, and had to chase from dead last, and almost a half lap down from the leaders. Angus kept his head down and ran his fastest laps of the weekend (36.0's) chasing his way back up to finish 4th. Disappointing result, but a good weekend learning a ton from the guys at Ocala Gran Prix. Angus is very excited that he will be under the Ocala Gran Prix tent for the Florida Winter Tour. OGP provides the best racing support in the country, and Angus is proud to be a member of such a proven winning team!

October 5th -
Angus' race was at Carolina Motorsports Park. The configuration had one section that was very difficult for
Angus to dial in correctly. He started the day a full second down due entirely to this one section in the track. Finally, by the last practice session, Angus was on top of the time sheets running a 49.16 lap time. We felt good going into qualifying, but traffic kept Angus from his chance at sitting on the pole. Angus qualified 2nd, but chose to start in the back of the field to get in more practice. At the start of the Pre-Final, Angus immediately picked up 4 positions, and finished the heat race in second place. For the Final, Angus decided to start in his earned 2nd position. Going into the first corner, a few karts came in too aggressively and pushed Angus off track from behind. After eventually getting back on track, Angus put his head down and chased to catch the back of the field. He continued to push and was able to finish the day with a second place. While Angus wasn't very happy with his 2nd place finish, it was a very good weekend for him because he was forced to work his way through the entire pack twice.

September 13th -
Angus competed for the first time at his new 'home' track, Ocala Gran Prix! The attendance was low (only 6 racers in Rotax Junior) but the competition level was very high with a former national champion racing, as well as the driver who posted the fastest lap times in practice at this year's nationals. Angus posted the 2nd fastest time in the first session, but hit the barriers which required him to miss the last 2 of 3 practice sessions. For qualifying, Angus was forced to go out on a new set-up which ended up being too tight resulting in a 3rd place qualifying effort. In the Pre-Final, Angus followed around the top 2 drivers, learning their lines and playing catchup after missing most of the practices, finishing right behind the front 2. Before the final, we were able to get everything dialed in for the chassis and motor set-up. Angus was able to get a great jump at the start of the final moving himself up running in the second position. With a little help, Angus went off and dropped back to 5th. He quickly raced his way back up to 3rd, but was only able to match the leaders' lap times and not improve as needed to run down P1 and P2. Angus finished with a 3rd place. Angus will take the next 2 weeks off, then head back to Florida to race at the 103rd Street Complex in Jacksonville, Florida.

September 7th -
In Angus' second race after moving up to Rotax Junior Max, Angus records a win. He started the race day posting the fastest lap times in all 3 practice sessions on the counter-clockwise configuration at Carolina Motorsports Park, running laps time in the 49.8's. After a slight chassis and air pressure change, Angus went out for qualifying and won the pole by posted a 49.36 lap time, which was a new track record for the Junior class. In
the final, Angus made things interesting by getting a traffic cone stuck under his kart in the first lap. By the time Angus was able to remove the cone from under his side pod, he was about 5 seconds behind the leader. Angus ran perfect laps and was able to chase down and make the pass for the lead. After that, Angus extended his lead each lap and won the final.

August 24th -
Angus enters his first Rotax Junior Max race at Carolina Motorsports Park! The race day began well with Angus posting the second fastest lap in the first practice. In all practice sessions, Angus was in the top 3 fastest times. For Qualifying, Angus tied for second by a thousands of a second. Unfortunately, the racer with whom Angus tied had posted a faster practice time, so he was awarded the qualifying spot and Angus was posted to start in 3rd. For the Pre-Final, Angus held his third starting position and the top 3 checked out on the rest of the field with no change to the running order. For the Final, Angus again started 3rd. Angus made a good move at the start to take the 2nd position, and held the position throughout the race to finish in a solid second place. Angus is adapting to the full-size chassis and unrestricted motor very quickly. He will take a week off, then travel back to Carolina before heading down for the rest of the month to Ocala, Florida.

August 10th -
Angus joins Ocala Gran Prix as he moves to the Rotax Junior class. Angus will now be racing a Tony Kart EVR with tuning help provided by OGP! A huge thanks to OGP and Tony Kart for lettng Angus race with their proven program. We are very excited about this opportunity.

August 3rd -
Another difficult year at the Grand National Championship for the Rotax Minimax class. We worked all week on getting the 'turbo' boost in the right places at the right time, and came up short. We have now decided to move up early to the next class, Rotax Junior. This class is for 13-15 year olds, but 12 year olds can compete in either this class or remain in the minimax class. Angus is very excited about moving up to the full size kart and unrestricted motor.

June 16th -
Last week Angus travelled to Indianapolis for the Pan-Am International. At the last minute, our tuner was not able to attend with us because of a personal emergency. Being without our Arrow tuner set us back as we were not familiar with the way this chassis responded to changes. For most of the weekend, we were consumed with chassis tuning, and stayed behind for the entire event with engine tuning. We were never able to catch up, but ended the weekend with a very good handling chassis set up. We will return to this Indianapolis track next month for the national championship. While we were not able to be competitive at the Pan-Am, we learned very valuable data for the national championship.

June 7th -
This past weekend, Angus travelled to Kershaw, South Carolina for another round of Rotax Championship qualifiers. A very strong field was in attendance, and Ron from Arrow Karts was tuning for Angus. By the time qualifying came around, Ron had Angus flying and setting fastest times in practice. Angus qualified on pole with a track record of 51.666. This time was a full .5 second faster than the second place kart. In the heat, Angus checked out early and easily won the race with a motor and chassis set up that couldn't be touched. The chassis was dialed in so well that Angus was able to hit his marks with ease and run mistake free laps all day. For the feature, Angus was again able to run almost perfect laps and won the race with a 9-10 second margin. A link to the start of the feature is here -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5Q8Gguj6Gs Angus' teammate (#98) was starting outside of Angus, and it's too bad he was caught up in the crash, because after he was able to get going again, also ran lap times in the 51.7's. It probably would have been a great Arrow battle and a 1 / 2 finish for our team!
Next race is the Pan-Am international!

May 24th -
Angus raced locally at Lamar County Speedway. While the main priority was still getting used to the new kart, Ron, from Engine Services and Arrow Kart, was able to tune on Angus' kart and had him fastest in all the practice sessions. It was decided that the Rotax Minimax and the older Rotax Junior classes would be combined for racing. That decision was a big plus for us, as that gave us very good competition with 2 other national level racers in attendance. In the 3 practice sessions, Ron made adjustments dropping Angus' lap times. Before qualifying, Angus asked for more grip and Ron decided on increased rear end bite and air pressure all around. Ron's decisions continued to be the right direction and earned Angus the pole position by almost a tenth over the Rotax Junior kart. In the heat race, Angus put down very fast early laps and gapped the field for an uneventful heat win. For the final, again Angus drove excellent lines gapping the field early and increasing his lead each lap for the win. Special thanks to Ron for his expert tuning and to Arrow Karts for their excellent chassis. We are very excited about the rest of the season in this new Arrow kart.
Angus will focus the next couple of weeks on getting ready for the Rotax Pan-American Challenge Race in New Castle, Indiana.
"The Pan American Rotax Max Challenge is the next level of high performance kart racing for competitors seeking the opportunity to race against an international field of Rotax drivers and earn a place at the 2010 World Finals. The launch of this elite series is considered the next step above the US Rotax Max Challenge for drivers seeking a new level of competing spirit and the chance to test their race skills against the best from South, Central and North America." -taken from the official Rotax Pan-american Challenge website

May 20th -
Angus was able to test the new Arrow kart and after a couple of hours getting used to the differences, he was able to run identical lap times to the Birel he's been on for the last 2 years. We look forward to racing locally this weekend to get more seat time in the Arrow kart. While always racing for a win, the priority will be trying out settings and gathering information on this new kart.

May 13th -
Angus has decided to drive an Arrow kart for the rest of the year. We look forward to the dedication to Rotax Minimax racing that Arrow and Racing Services bring to the table. Angus will receive his new kart on Friday, and will immediately begin testing. A special thanks goes out to Raceway Motorsports for all their help and services over the past 2 years. We will miss the expert tuning we had with Raceway Motorsports, but look forward to working with Racing Services.

May 10th -
Last weekend was the second race in the South East Super Series event. Racing was at the new Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, South Carolina. Angus was at a little disadvantage as he was the only minimax kart that hadn't ever raced at this track. In the first practice, Angus was almost a second off the pace. We went to work, and by qualifying Angus placed himself on the outside pole with a 52.180 lap time, compared to the pole winning 52.179 posted time. In the first heat, Angus continued to improve his lap times running 52.0's. With a lack of track knowledge, our chassis set up turned out to be way too tight. Driving under those tight conditions caused Angus to loose 2 positions near the end of the heat as the rear end did not allow Angus to be able to hold his fast line. Our set up for the Final turned out to be just right, and Angus ran lap times in the high 51 seconds. But after a team mate over ran a corner and punted Angus off the track, our day was pretty much over. Because of the contact, Angus came off the track and came in light on the scales. A part was missing off the kart that I didn't notice until much later giving us a disqualification for being underweight. We are currently exploring new team opportunities.

April 19th -
On Saturday, Angus raced in the first South East Rotax Super Series event. The race was at the 103rd Street Racing Complex in Jacksonville, FL. Angus was fast from the start and earned the pole position from qualifying.
The Jacksonville track is unusual in that it has a very long back straight perfect for drafting and slingshot passing. In the racing, one of the karts showed incredible horsepower and was able to stay with Angus' fast laps and draft by us down the long straight. After that, in every lap Angus was able to run the kart down in the rest of the track, but again lose a big gap down the long straight. Losing because of being down on horsepower is disappointing, and we will get to work increasing our own horsepower output. Raceway Motorsports tuning was very good seeing our all time highest RPM's at 13800, and running perfect engine temps. But again, we will do what we need to do to increase our horsepower so this doesn't happen again. The next SERSS race will be at the Carolina Motorsports Park which we hear is an amazing facility. Thanks to the 103rd crew and all involved with the SERSS series, as the racing was very well run.
With weather reports predicting rain for this upcoming Saturday, our plans for the week will be to race locally in the wet. If it is predicted to be dry conditions for Saturday, we will plan on testing in South Carolina instead as local competition is limited.

April 10th -
Racing was local at Lamar County Speedway and was Angus' first kart race of the year. Angus will only race Minimax this year. Minimax is the 10 -12 year old Rotax class. It is the premier racing class for this age group in the US. The rotax motor package is a 125cc liquid cooled 2 cycle motor. In Angus' first race back in a kart, he qualified on pole, won the heat race and won the feature. Angus took it easy in the heat race and his winning margin was within 2 seconds. For the feature, Angus decided to put down about 10 really fast laps at the start and gap the other karts. Angus' lap time in the first laps of the feature were actually .008 seconds faster than his qualfying time. Angus steadily pulled a gap on the P2 kart and by the end won by 11 seconds, even after being signaled to slow down because of his leading margin. Of note, last year Angus lost 2 races by poorly negotiating back markers. In this race, Angus' movement through lappers was much improved and without incident. Angus is determined to have a mistake free karting season in 2010.

April 5th -
Angus ends his winter bandolero season with a 3rd place overall finish in the Winter Flurry Championship Series.

March 8th -
This weekend's race was at Atlanta Motor Speedway in conjunction with the NASCAR weekend. Angus' race was after the trucks on Saturday. Angus drew next to last being outside row 7. From there, we knew things were going to be ugly. The #99 and #7 cars drew to start at the front. In the first 2 laps, Angus made up about 7 positions. He made his way up battling for 4th when a couple of cars got together forcing Angus to take evasive action and leave the track on the run-off area. This required Angus to return to the last position on the grid for the re-start. After the green flag, Angus again flew through the back of the field passing about 5 cars in the first lap after the re-start. Again, Angus quickly made it up running in the top 10, and when he was passing for 5th got chopped down on abruptly causing damage to his race car. Angus wheel was broken forcing him to leave the racing circuit. It was a disappointing result and weekend. We look forward to getting back to qualifying and heat races which set up the grid for features. We do not fair very well with draws. (Draws are random numbers out of a hat which line you up for starts).

March 2nd -
No racing this past weekend, but time was spent preparing for upcoming races. In karting, Angus will again race the Birel C28 chassis this year and a new one was ordered. A lot of fiberglass and bondo work was performed on his bandolero car to get it ready and looking good for the NASCAR weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway. A new paint scheme will have Angus in black this season.

February 8th -
This weekend's race was a double-header at Atlanta Motor Speedway, making up one of the races missed due to rain. We were trying a brand new set up for this race. The grid for the first heat was set by a draw and Angus drew a mid-pack start. Our set up was obviously fast, and Angus worked his way up to a 2nd place finish in the short 6 lap heat race. In the first feature, Angus was spun in the first lap by the #7 car, hitting him on exit in corner #2 sending Angus to the rear of the field. I could sense Angus' anger all the way from where I was on pit road. On the re-start, Angus quickly passed 5 cars in the first half of a lap. By the half way through the race, Angus had worked himself back up to 3rd, and was chasing down the #7 car. With 2 laps to go, Angus caught the top 2 cars, but was not able to make a pass. Angus finished 3rd behind the #7 car.
For the second feature, Angus drew last for his starting place on the grid. The #99, winner of the first feature, and the #7 car drew to be on the first 2 rows. Immediately at the start, the #99 and #7 cars broke off the front, and Angus passed 4 cars at the rear. By the 3rd lap, Angus had moved himself up to 3rd, but there was a pretty large gap between him and the front 2 cars. A caution brought the field together, bringing Angus to the bumper of the #7 car. Everyone watching assumed it was time for a little payback. But to everyone's surprise, Angus did not spin the #7 on the re-start. Instead, Angus rode the #7's bumper, forcing the driver to run perfect lines. Angus was definitely using his front bumper letting the driver know he was there, but raced him clean. With 3 to go, the #7 car rode up the track just a little and Angus made his move. After making the pass for 2nd position, Angus drew away from the #7. But with so few laps to go, he did not have time to reel in and pass the #99 car. I was very proud of Angus not taking the easy way through the #7 car.  In every form of racing, Angus has always had speed but what I'm seeing in him is a racecraft well beyond his years. Angus' drving skills are developing at an extreme pace and 2010 in going to be an awesome year!

February 1st -
Rain forced the cancellation of weekend racing. It's been a wet winter! Time was spent this week learning more
about setting up race cars for ovals. While we do pretty well at road course set up and tuning, we have been giving the responsibility of oval set up to Rusty Clanton, who is the best in the business in my opinion. In addition, after consulting 600 Racing in North Carolina and Rusty Clanton, we have decided to move Angus up early to the Legend Cars. Angus will turn 12 in the fall, and has the option of staying another year in Bandoleros or moving up to the Legend cars. While the Bandoleros do not have a gearbox, the Legend cars have a 6 speed sequential gearbox similar to the formula cars Angus plans on racing very soon. A 12 year old must request special authorization and be approved to drive the Legend cars, and we will begin testing in the car very soon.

January 25th -
On Saturday, Angus raced for his first time at Watermelon Capital Speedway.   After a very wet month, Angus was thrilled to be back in a race car!   The track is a 3/8th mile tri-oval.   It is a very fast banked track seeing speeds close to 100 mph.   From Angus' first lap of practice, it was clear that Rusty Clanton's set up was really good, and Angus was very fast.   Right from the start in practice, he was running lap times with the track veterans.   Due to the draw, Angus started the heat in the rear in the last starting position.   At the start, he had contact with another car near the rear of the pack which slowed Angus' initial pace, and a 4 car lead group broke off the front.   From my timing, Angus put in the fastest laps of all the cars and was able to slowly bridge the gap, catch the front group, and make a pass for 4th.   Unfortunately, Angus had an exhaust failure with 1 lap to go, falling off the pace and finishing 5th.   In the feature, Angus immediately moved up to 4th, challenged for 3rd when he had another mechanical issue.   At about the half way point, Angus had a critical drive system failure resulting in a DNF.   We had a great time racing at a fun new track for us.   Angus continues to improve every time he sits in a race car, and proves to be fast at every racing venue.

January 15th -
Again, racing has been cancelled due to rain for this weekend.   There are four bandolero races scheduled over the next 3 weeks, and we plan to race them all.   Due to the cold and rainy weather, Angus has taken about a month off of racing and testing.   He is very ready to get back in the driver's seat!

2009 Racing Year Archive

December 15th -
Last week's bandolero race was cancelled due to rain.   During the week, Angus travelled down to the PRI show in Orlando to attend the Bobby Rahal Symposium for up and coming drivers.   While there, he also tested at the Orlando Karting Facility for the upcoming Florida Winter Tour race.   The highlight of the trip was that Angus was able to run laps with former F1 driver, and current Nascar driver, Scott Speed!

December 4th -
During this week, Angus broke in new tires for his bandolero car.

November 23rd -
This weekend's race was a bandolero race and the first of the Winter Flurry Series at Atlanta Motor Speedway.   Qualifying was done by a draw, and Angus drew the pole.   From there, things did not go as planned.   Angus was a little off the pace in the heat race, but was able to hold down 2nd position for the finish.   It turned out that Angus had suffered 2 cut tires that were slowly deflating.   This deflation became much more evident in the feature and Angus was forced to drive defensively and salvage what he could.   Excellent driving in his mirrors enabled him to stay in a podium spot until late in the race.   With a few laps to go in the feature, Angus' car would not longer hold the bottom line and 2 cars were able to get under him and make passes.   Angus brought it home in a disappointing 5th place.

November 14th -
Angus raced in the inaugural race at the new Gresham Motorsports Park.   The track is a flat 1/4 mile oval with long straights and tight turns.   This is a driver's track more than a set up track.   Right from the start, Angus put in fast laps.   In qualifying, Angus put in a decent lap of 17.64, but was then blocked for the rest of the qualifying session.   This qualifying effort placed Angus 4th on the grid for the start of the 25 lap feature.   At the start, Angus immediately moved to third, and then to second in the order by the 3rd lap.   The first and second place cars began to check out on the field when a big crash happened at the back of the pack bringing out the red flag.   During this time, it was determined that Angus' in-car radio had quit working and he was black flagged and sent to the pits for repair.   He was then sent to the back of the field for the re-start.   While in the pits, I urged Angus to be patient and to methodically work his way back through the field staying out of the crashes.   Angus picked off cars every lap, and by 5 laps to go was back in 2nd place.   He had no chance of running down the leader, and came across the finish in a solid 2nd place.   Taking into account the black flag, we were very pleased with this finish.   This is an awesome facility that offered extremely well run racing.   We look forward to racing at GMP again real soon!

November 12th -
The 2009 karting season is officially over for Angus.   Angus had a very good karting year.   He scored a perfect season in cadet winning every cadet class race he entered, and winning the GSKA Championship.   In Minimax, Angus won the GSKA Championship as well, but came up short at the Grand Nationals by not winning a national title.   For 2010, Angus will no longer race in the cadet class, and will focus all his karting efforts in Minimax.
Angus' next karting race will be in January 2010 in Orlando, Florida, racing in the Florida Winter Tour.   This is an international event, where all the top karters will be competing.   Over the winter, we will be spending time testing and preparing for this race, as well as racing his bandolero car.

October 26th -
Last weekend's bandolero race was cancelled due to rain.   During the week, Angus was able to get back in his bandolero race car for testing at Atlanta Motor Speedway.   It has been 5 months since he's sat in this race car, but he was quickly back up to speed.   Angus was a few tenths off his pace in early sessions, but soon ran close to his best lap times on the flat 1/4 mile track.   Unfortunately, the day ended prematurely when a car spun in front of Angus, causing unavoidable contact and damaging Angus' right front end.   The next race for Angus will be at the all new Gresham Motorsports Park, previously known as Peach State Speedway.   We are very pleased that Gresham's track is a flat 1/4 mile track that does not require restrictor plates.

October 18th -
This weekend's race was part of the BoShear's Air Show in Augusta, GA.   The track was a temporary street course built on one of the runways at Daniel Airfield, designed by Chip Robinson, former Jaguar factory driver.   From the beginning, Angus was very fast in both of his karting classes posting the fastest lap times.   Angus qualified on the pole in Cadet, but a timing issue did not read Angus' 2 fastest laps which placed him on the second row starting the Minimax heat.   In cadet, Angus temporarily lost the lead, but quickly regained the front position and then checked out running .5 seconds a lap faster than the second place kart.   In the Minimax heat, Angus made a move to the inside at the start to pick up one position which moved him to second.   With 2 laps to go, Angus drafted by the leader moving him into the front and taking the heat win.   Just before the finals, a steady rain settled over Daniel Airfield forcing us to switch to a wet set-up.   In the Cadet final, Angus checked out in the first lap, and easily won by a huge margin.   In the Minimax final, the #98 kart was able to stay with Angus, but was not able to run close enough to attempt a pass.   Angus drove a safe and defensive line throughout the wet final to bring home another victory.   A big thanks to all who put on this race, and a special thanks to Rick Sweeting and Raceway Motorsports for perfect tuning and jetting all weekend so Angus could bring home his two victories.

October 5th -
We had planned to take the week off, but a late communication sounded beneficial to Angus and changed our plans.   We were informed Angus would be allowed to race in the adult TAG class (2-stoke open) in the GSKA race, and we saw this as an opportunity to race with fast competition locally.   Since we would be there, Angus also signed up to compete in the Cadet and Rotax combined class.   Angus qualified on pole and won the heat as well as the feature in the adult TAG race.   He also won the Cadet and combined Rotax class.   Racing 3 classes was a physical challenge, and Angus fought through aching arms and ribs to put in his fastest official times ever at Lamar County Raceway with a 23.055 lap time.

Sept 22 -
Last week, Angus travelled to the Oklahoma Motorsports Complex to contend for the national championship racing in the Rotax Grand Nationals.   Right away, Angus was one of the fastest Minimax drivers, and was loving the track in Norman, Oklahoma.   We spend about a week testing at the track before the racing began.   We were able to get the chassis tuned very well for the track conditions.   Constant weather changes made for difficult engine tuning.   Just before qualifying, heavy rain soaked the track.   Angus' exceptional driving skills placed him 7th on the grid after qualifying.   From there, the weather and crashing hindered our plans.   In the 3 heats, Angus crashed twice which placed him 20th on the grid for the Pre-Final.   Our plan from there was to drive aggressively to work our way back to the front.   In the Pre-Final, Angus ran his fastest laps of the week-end and moved from 20th to 12th, helping his grid position for the Final.   In the Final, another aggressive move going into corner #1 placed Angus in the grass and out of contention for the win.   Much information was gathered this week to help us achieve our goal of a national championship.   We will again be competing for this title in 2010.

September 7 -
Angus raced locally on Saturday.   A low turnout allowed him to race a combined race with the adults.   While breaking in his new motor, Angus was still able to qualify on the pole and win the race.   Angus' new motor proved to be a strong one.   Right out of the box, the rpm's were almost equal to his other motor.   Our plans are still to use the older motor for the Grand Nationals, but this new one will be a very competent back up.   Once loosened up, the new motor will probably become our primary motor based on the data from Saturday.

On Thursday we leave for Oklahoma.   We will take advantage of every minute of practice offered starting on Friday.   This will give us 4 un-official practice days, and 1 official practice day before qualifying and racing for the national championship.   Day 1 and 2 will be spent perfecting the driving line and tuning the chassis.   Day 3 and 4 will be used testing different carburetor settings.   The last day of practice will be learning how the track changes throughout the day affect our setting.   Angus has working hard all season, and all involved with Angus Hunt Racing wish him the best in his quest for a national title.

September 4 -
This week was spent installing and going through the break-in process for a new 2009 Rotax Minimax motor.   This motor will serve as a back-up for the Grand Nationals starting next week.   Angus will race locally tomorrow, mainly spending track time continuing to break in his new motor.   We will run one heat in another kart that is prepped as his competition kart for the Grand Nationals.    Next week we leave for Oklahoma to compete for the national championship.

August 22 -
Raced locally at Lamar County Raceway.   In the cadet race, Angus wanted passing practice.   So even though he won pole, he started in back in the heat and feature.   Good passing moved him to the front in both races for the wins.   In the Rotax class, Angus was the only minimax racer, but this low turn out worked in Angus' favor.   It was decided to run Angus' minimax with the adult Rotax classes.   To our surprise, Angus qualified outside pole and in the feature made a move for the lead.   Angus ran out front for a good portion of the adult race, and was having a blast.   Angus lost a little grip in a turn and the second place kart got a little into him.   Angus couldn't keep from spinning from the bump from the full-sized kart and lost his lead.   But it was one of the most fun races Angus has competed in this year.   He hopes to be allowed to run with the adults again as he always learns a lot from them.

August 8 -
Angus had another great day of racing.   Qualified on pole in cadet class, won the heat race and won the feature.   Qualified on pole in minimax class, won the heat, but crashed in the feature.   Angus was leading the feature until he came up on lappers.   As he was lapping the slower racers, one moved down on him and they
touched and sent Angus off the track.   Before the race, Angus was aware of the slower traffic he would encounter and he was aware that he was much faster than the other drivers so he was determined to be very conservative in negotiating his way through the pack as he was lapping them.   But situations are hard to control in racing, and things can go wrong quickly.   Angus was very fast all day and set track records in both his classes!   Only two more local races before heading to Oklahoma for the Grand Nationals!

July 25 -
This week we traveled to Alabama to race at Baker's Creek Karting.   There are 2 minimax racers there who are fast and compete nationally.   We raced there once last year just after moving up to minimax, but weren't able to get a set-up.   We practiced all day Friday, and ran close to the track record.   On Saturday's racing, Angus qualified 3rd just behind the 2 other fast racers with a 38.31 compared to their 38.25 and 38.27.   In the first heat, Angus easily passed the #98 kart going into turn #1.   But a red flag restarted without counting his pass.   On the restart, Angus easily passed the #98 kart again going into corner #1.   Angus and the #402 kart left the #98 kart and the rest of the field, but Angus couldn't make the pass for the lead.   Angus started the final on the outside pole, and got a great jump on the start making the pass for the lead going into corner #1.   Angus and the #402 kart again checked out on the #98 kart and the rest of the field.   Angus led the entire race with the #402 kart bumping him constantly just as Angus was entering corners.   The #402 kart was trying his best to spin Angus, but could not as Angus was determined to not get spun.   Due to the #402 kart's rough driving, Angus drove a defensive line which allowed the #402 to remain close.   At about halfway through the feature, Angus was partially spun by the #402 kart and he was able to get up beside Angus on the next straightaway but Angus ran him all the way to the edge of the track so that the #402 had to check up and fall back in behind.   On the last lap, the #402 kart made a low percentage move crashing into Angus from behind taking himself and Angus out and allowing the #98 kart to come from way back and pass them both for the win.   After getting the #402 kart off him and his kart, Angus was able to salvage 2nd place.    Angus was disappointed getting the win taken away from him that way, but again, Angus was the obvious best minimax racer of the day.   Angus continues to improve, and this weekend prepared him more for the Grand Nationals in September!

June 22 -
Angus wrecked one of his bandolero cars in practice and the other had electrical issues so Angus missed this
week's Thursday Thunder race.   After a long weekend defining Angus' goals and priorities in racing, Angus decided to focus his efforts on road course racing instead of ovals.   Our plan for the rest of 2009 is limited bandolero racing, and an emphasis on preparing for the Rotax Grand Nationals in September.   After September, Angus plans to begin his Skip Barber formula car training.

June 14 -
This week Angus raced his car and kart.
In his bandolero car, Angus competed in the first round of Thursday Thunder.   There were 16 cars in his class with racers from all over the country.   Angus' lap times were in the top 5.   Angus started outside front row for the heat race, but lost 2 positions finishing 4th.   In the feature, Angus and another car made contact at the start which damaged Angus' right front.   Due to this damage, Angus' lap times were .5 second off per lap, but he hung in trying to salvage points.   Angus was spun twice, went from 2nd position to 11th position and finished 7th.
In his kart race, Angus raced at Lamar Country Raceway for another RMax race.   Angus qualified on pole by almost half a second (which is a very big margin).   Angus also won the heat race, but was penalized one finishing position well after the race was over for rough driving.   There was no black flag or warning given by the race director, but after a parent complained, a penalty was given even though this is not allowed by the rules.   But Angus had fun, learned more and continued to be the fastest kid at the track.

June 8 -
Week 1 of Thursday Thunder was canceled due to rain.   The Rotax National Rankings came out and Angus is ranked the #2 Minimax driver in the country.   The Rotax Minimax class is the premiere class in karting for 10 - 12 years olds.   We are excited about this, especially since Angus is only a 10 year old.   In September, Angus will be heading to Oklahoma to race the Grand Nationals in the class.

June 3 -
Thursday Thunder at Atlanta Motor Speedway is one of the most prestigious series' in the US for Legend and Bandolero racing.   This week we begin our quest to win this series.   It is a 10 week series, racing every Thursday night during the summer on in the 1/4 mile track in the front stretch of Atlanta Motor Speedway.   For
this series, we had to get Angus' cars looking good and went with a white and yellow scheme that we think will stand out.

May 31 -
Round #5 of the Southeast Rotax Super Series was in Monticello, Florida.   The track was awesome, and Angus qualified 2nd by less than 1/10th of a second - not bad considering it was our first time on the track and the pole winner had spent many hours racing and practicing at Monticello.   Racing was fun all day.   The track layout offered multiple passing zones, and passing was constant.   Angus made 2 passes for the lead throughout the day, but a broken chain in the feature ended Angus' day of racing.   It was a very disappointing result, but Angus learned a lot from this track that will benefit him at the Rotax Grand Nationals in September.

May 16 -
Racing was local in Barnesville in his karts.   It was the 4th race in the Southeast Rotax Super Series.   Angus won the cadet class race, but came up short in his minimax kart.   The motor upgrade to the '09 cylinder had some issues and the old motor had to be reassembled for Angus to compete in the minimax race.   During
qualifying, the kart has some mechanical failures which required Angus to miss the heat race.   Subsequently, he had to start the feature at the back with no laps to dial in the kart or motor.   Angus finished in a disappointing 3rd place.   With this finish, Angus lost the points lead in the series.   He is, however, still undefeated in the cadet class.   His record so far in all kart races entered in 2009 is 6 wins, 1 third, and 1 mechanical DNF while leading.

May 8 -
Todays racing was at Atlanta Motor Speedway in an INEX Points Race in Angus' Bandolero racecar.   His lap times were fast, but his draw set him on the grid starting in 4th position.   At the start of the heat, Angus immediately moved up to 2nd position.   He and the #7 car broke away from the field by the 2nd lap.   Nearing halfway through the heat race, a lapped car spun and Angus smashed into the lapper as he had no where to go.   It was a very hard impact with a lot of damage to the racecar.   Angus did not suffer any injuries, but could not continue due to the extensive mechanical damage.

May 2 -
Angus took a much needed week off.   Raceway Motorsports rebuilt his Rotax motor and updated with an '09 cylinder.

April 25 -
This week's racing was in Jacksonville, FL, for an RMax race.   These are qualifiers for the Grand Nationals in his Rotax kart.   Angus started the weekend about a second faster per lap than the other racers.   He continued being fast all day and won the event.   This was a good test as it was on a big, wide open track.   Angus loved the high speeds and ran flat for most of the track only letting off the gas for 2 sections.   Angus is leading in the points in the Southeast Rotax Super Series.
